Top Ten Marvel Cinematic Universe Villains

This article, Top Ten Marvel Cinematic Universe Villains, originally appeared on Comic Vine.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen some great villains. We've also seen some villains that haven't seem to do too much. Whenever it comes to listing multiple characters, everyone has their favorites.
View gallery
.
Creating a list or ranking characters is never easy. We've made our attempt based on certain criteria. We're including all the movie and TV villains but looking at what they've accomplished so far in the live action medium and how long they've been active. Let's be honest, most Cinematic Universe villains end up dying pretty quickly. Some of these characters' comic book counterparts would obviously rank higher. At the end, you'll even be able to vote for the villain you think is the best (or should we say the worst?).
As you can imagine, there will be spoilers from the movies and TV shows.

10. Jiaying

View gallery
.
Some might be saying who?Jiaying was an Inhuman that managed to live a long time after she was exposed to the Terrigenesis process. She eventually became a bit of a leader among a group of Inhumans and helped guide them and cope with their newfound abilities. She also helped create a sanctuary to keep them safe from the outside world.
She sounds pretty nice, right? Well, part of her maintaining her longevity was through the sacrifice of other Inhumans. She basically sucked their lifeforce to keep herself young or to heal from wounds. She was also responsible for starting a war between the Inhumans and S.H.I.E.L.D. Her final act resulted in unleashing Terrigen Crystals upon the world, when they were exposed to some fish that were caught and used for fish oil vitamins. This means we'll be seeing more Inhumans pop up, whether they want to embrace their heritage and possible harmful change. You know some will want to use their new abilities for evil. You could also say she is sort of responsible for some of the bad things her husband, Cal Zabo did.

9. Winter Soldier

View gallery
.
This sparked a few questions when I tweeted and asked which villain people dug. Bucky Barnes is a good guy. He just ended up in a bad situation. Being brainwashed and used to commit evil acts might not necessarily be his fault. That doesn't mean the things he did can be overlooked.
As the Winter Soldier, Bucky had a long career and assassinated many high ranking and important people. There's also the psychological affect he had on Captain America. Once Cap found out his identity, he was determined to try to save him. This nearly cost him his life. The death of Captain America would have a big impact on the Avengers and others in the Cinematic Universe. Cap may have been going with his gut in knowing Bucky could be redeemed but it was still a big gamble.

8. Kingpin

View gallery
.
I have to admit, Kingpin in Netflix's Daredevil is one of my favorite villains. There's no denying that Vincent D'Onofrio did an amazing job. The reason he doesn't rank higher is because his time in power didn't last too long. This was a man that could beat the living daylights out of a henchman and have that guy come back (after he got out of the hospital) and remain loyal to him.
He may have been a ruthless and vicious man that managed to convince the New York City he was a legitimate and caring businessman but what did he really control? Hell's Kitchen? If he manages to return in the next season, perhaps he'll rise up on the list.

7. Ronan

View gallery
.
Ronan is another character that you would expect to rank higher. As a member of the Kree race, he was a genocidal militarist that wanted to wipe out the Xandarians and killed countless others (including killing Drax's family with no recollection). He managed to locate the Orb (that contained one of the six Infinity Stones) which he was supposed to give to Thanos.
Because of the kind of guy he was, Ronan had no problem standing up to Thanos and refusing to deliver the Orb. With the power, he continued to cause major damage and death. It was his hunger for power that lead to his demise.

6. Red Skull

View gallery
.
Red Skull proved to be another character that was difficult to rank. He may not have had the cosmic reach Ronan has but his legacy lasted decades after his death. Red Skull is responsible for creating HYDRA. Moving away from the Nazi ideals, his focus was more on the science aspect of things. A brilliant scientist himself, he had no problem injecting himself with a version of the Super Soldier Serum which gave him strength and agility but also resulted in his Red Skull look.
Continuing his quest for power, the Red Skull became aware of reports that the mystical Tesseract was rumored to be on Earth. Locating it, it added to his power but also lead to his death. His legacy of HYDRA continued after his death unbeknownst to the 'good guys.'

5. Thanos

View gallery
.
Thanos is a very patient individual. Readers of the comics he's appeared in know what he's fully capable of. In the Cinematic Universe, sadly he still hasn't done too much. He's clearly a being of immense power. He's been great at sitting back and getting others to do his bidding. He's simply looking at the big picture. It's his goal to obtain all the Infinity Stones. While they're becoming exposed to others, he's showing no signs of concern over the way they're bouncing around from person to person. He has his gauntlet and he's willing to sit back and wait until he gathers all six of them.
This just means he hasn't quite earned a spot towards the top of the list. He has set off a bad chain of events but that's about it. It's only now, after Loki and Rona have let him down, that he's decided to start taking matters into his own hands. Things about to get real.

4. Grant Ward

View gallery
.
What?!? We're ranking the former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. higher than Thanos? That's right. Again, for now. Ward is one of the few Marvel villains that has managed to survive once his original plans have fallen apart. He too has a big plan he's now set in motion.
Grant wasn't necessarily an evil person. The physical and mental abuse he suffered within his family left him wide open to become a sleeper agent for HYDRA, within S.H.I.E.L.D. He became a high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, reaching Level 7, and even when the truth about him was revealed, he managed to overcome the typical bad guy obstacles and survive. His knowledge and abilities even made it so Coulson had no choice but to seek out his assistance. Now he's taken it upon himself to declare himself the new leader of HYDRA. We'll definitely be keeping an eye on him to see if he continues his evil ways and what this new HYDRA will accomplish.

3. Ultron

View gallery
.
Ultron started out as an artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark as part of a peacekeeping program. Ultron soon came to the conclusion that humans were the real problem. Ultron believed it was humans that were the real threat to peace on Earth. So what better way to ensure peace than to completely wipe out mankind?
Ultron's power base quickly rose with a huge robotic army at his command. By enlisting Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, they managed to cause a rift in the Avengers and caused Hulk to go on a rampage in a city. If that wasn't enough, Ultron also caused a city to actually rise up in the air. The entire population was at risk and the Avengers barely managed to save them. It was Ultron's plan to drop the city upon the Earth to replicate the affect of a meteor smashing into the Earth which caused the extinction of the dinosaurs.
As ambitious and deadly as his plan was, he was ultimately defeated. While it seems he's completely gone, based on his track record in the comic, we can't help but wonder if we truly have seen the last of him.

2. Alexander Pierce

View gallery
.
Alexander Pierce is the master of subterfuge. Similar to Grant Ward but on a completely larger scale, he managed to bamboozle the entire world as a high ranking agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the World Security Council when he was actually a HYDRA leader. This is a guy that was in charge of many things at S.H.I.E.L.D. and is even responsible for appointing Nick Fury as the Director. In trying to make the world a better place, in his opinion, he started Project Insight which used the computer mind of Arnim Zola, the Red Skull's chief scientist. Pierce had no problem with the idea of killing 20 million people that were considered threats based on Zola's algorithm in order to save 7 billion. When Fury became a threat, he had no problem sending the Winter Soldier after his long time friend.
It was clear there wasn't anything Pierce wouldn't do in order to achieve his plans at basically ruling the world. He believed he knew what was best and anyone that didn't agree was disposable. Being able to orchestrate and operate the intricacies of the dual nature of S.H.I.E.L.D. without the wrong people finding out is incredibly impressive. Once it all came out, his duplicity changed everything the world knew about S.H.I.E.L.D. He almost got away with it too if it wasn't for the meddling Captain America, Black Widow, and Falcon.

1. Loki

View gallery
.
Is there anyone else that could possibly top this list? Loki is the God of Lies. He's also the God of Mischief. He manages to fool pretty much everyone. Just from our exposure to him in the Cinematic Universe, we've seen how easily he manipulates others, including his adopted brother, Thor. In a typical grab for power, he orchestrated events to get Thor banished to Earth and deemed unworthy of his birthright as the next leader of Asgard. He gained possession of the Tesseract and allied himself with the Chitauri, causing major destruction upon New York City. Despite his defeat, he still managed to take advantage of the Dark Elves attacking to fake his death in order to actually claim the throne of Asgard. We still don't exactly know what he did with Odin.
Loki is evil and also charming. It's a dangerous combination. Even after everything he's done, Thor still wants to believe there is good in him. What has he been up to since he took the throne? We'll have to wait and see.
Now it's your turn. You've seen our list. Vote below for who you think is the best villain in the Cinematic Universe. We suggest you try not to just vote for your favorite but, hey, it's your vote.

Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs leads Forbes' highest-paid rap stars
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rapper Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs led Forbes' list of the world's highest paid stars in hip hop music on Tuesday, edging out Jay Z and Drake for the top spot.
Harlem native Combs, 45, made an estimated $60 million between June 2014 and June 2015 according to Forbes' calculations, from investments outside of music, such as his TV network Revolt and Ciroc vodka.
His albums includes 2001's "The Saga Continues" and 2010's "Last Train to Paris," and he's working on a new record.
In second place is rap mogul Jay Z (real name Shawn Carter), the 45-year-old founder of Roc Nation music group, who earned an estimated $56 million from business ventures in music, sports and lifestyle. His 22 shows with his wife, singer Beyonce, helped boost his earnings, Forbes said.
Canadian rapper Drake, 28, came in at No. 3 with $39.5 million, the bulk of which came from touring, as well as high profile endorsements from Sprite and Nike.
Nicki Minaj was the only woman to crack into the top ten of the highest paid hip hop acts, coming in at No. 9 with $21 million from touring and endorsements.
Forbes calculated its list using pre-tax income figures from factors such as record sales, touring, streaming and endorsements using data from Nielsen SoundScan, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and interviews with managers, lawyers and in some cases, the artists themselves.
Other hip hop moguls in the top ten, all of which hail from North America and Canada, include Beats co-founder Dr. Dre and rappers Eminem and Kanye West.

Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj, looking casual (Ellen von Unwerth for GQ)

Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill's joint interview for GQ starts off with a pretty major disagreement. "Very un-normal. It still ain't normal," Meek says of their relationship. To which Nicki responds: "I definitely think we have a normal relationship off camera. It's the same thing I think as any other couple in the hood."
This should probably not be a surprise for Twitter's most divisive couple. But reading through, the two are very in sync.
"One of the things that made me want to be with him is we spent so much time talking, and he always made me feel like he was OK with me being me. As an artist and just as a woman," Nicki says of Meek. "Obviously I'm a strong woman in a lot of ways… I'm not a strong woman in every way, I don't want to make it seem like I am some superhero because I'm not, but I do know that it takes a certain kind of guy."
As for Nicki's other favorite thing about Meek... "Actually I love kissing him. That's my favorite thing about Meek is to kiss him, which is weird. Just now I was like damn, you've been asking can I kiss you a lot now, and it's contagious because I used to be always asking him to kiss him when we first stated talking. I love kissing him. I love the way his lips feel."
Oh Nicki, we know.

As for Meek's favorite thing about Nicki? "That you was a hustler," Meek says. "That you were doing your thing. A lot of people coming up. People don't really have a girlfriends that's doing more than them or the same thing. I like girls that hustle. She a boss. She's pretty as f--k. Bad as s--t. Ambitious. What else do you want?"
On the day of Nicki and Meek's GQ shoot, Drake had just dropped his first of two diss tracks about Meek, after Meek had accused Drake of using a ghostwriter. During the interview, Meek admits that Nicki was none too thrilled about the feud.
Nicki: And that's the thing people don't understand. Meek is a grown ass man. I may not agree with everything he says.

Meek: She likes none of that s--t. No matter who I'm talking to.
Nicki says she started to get serious about Meek around the time he went to jail in July 2014. "I remember sitting on my balcony at my house and just being on the phone with him until it started getting dark outside," she says. "And I was just like yo, I'm in trouble. I just knew that first day, it was that long conversation. I was like uh-oh."
And in case you thought being the highest selling female rapper would exempt you from your mom trying to meddle in your love life? News flash: it won't.
"The only person [who had concerns about the relationship] was my mother," Nicki says. "My mother only knows Meek from what she sees in public, in the media. She met him now, but she just wants to make sure he's a nice guy. She's overprotective of her daughter. ... Everybody was just scared. Those women were scared for me because when I love someone I really let them in, and I really let me guard down, and I think it's only natural for a mother to just you know, she just wanted to make sure I wasn't rushing into anything."

Nicki also discussed her recent dust-up with Taylor Swift, over the lack of diversity at the VMAs.
"I'm very happy I tweeted about the VMAs, because 'Anaconda' had too much of a cultural impact to not be up [for Video of the Year]," Nicki says. "When these pop girls have a moment like that, they get nominated for every award, and they win it. And I was happy that people spoke out for me. People used their voices in the media to say this is true, and even Taylor Swift said, I didn't even realize there was a bigger picture, I missed it. We talked. We got over it. She called me and spoke about it, and I told her, I would never come at you."
Nicki Minaj is good with Meek. She's good with Drake. She's good with Taylor. Nicki Minaj is good with everyone. But Miley Cyrus.

Mourinho's gamble pays off as Chelsea cruise

Maccabi Tel Aviv's Gal Alberman (L), Tal Ben-Haim I (2L) and Dor Micha (R) chase Chelsea's Diego Costa during the UEFA Champions League Group G football match at Stamford Bridge in London on September 16, 2015
.London (AFP) - Jose Mourinho's selection gamble paid off as Chelsea got their spluttering season back on track with a 4-0 rout of Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Mourinho's side went into their Group G opener in turmoil after Saturday's dismal 3-1 defeat at Everton left them with only one win from their first five Premier League matches.
That miserable sequence was Chelsea's worst start to a season since 1988 and it provoked a barrage of criticism for Mourinho and his under-performing English champions.
But Mourinho promised changes after the Everton loss and the Blues boss was true to his word as he axed John Terry, Diego Costa, Pedro Rodriguez, John Obi Mikel, Nemanja Matic and Branislav Ivanovic.
It seemed the switches might backfire after Eden Hazard's shocking penalty miss in the first half at Stamford Bridge.
But lacklustre Maccabi were the perfect opponents for Chelsea to rediscover a semblance of their form and Willian opened the scoring before Oscar showed Hazard how to do it by converting a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
Costa came on to net in the second half and Cesc Fabregas added gloss to the scoreline with a late tap-in.
It was far from a vintage Chelsea performance, but Mourinho will hope it provides a foundation for future success, starting with a sterner test against Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.
"It was a good victory, you could see from minute one we were going to win the game," Mourinho said.
"The same way I was not in hell with bad results, I am not in heaven when we won a game.
"Missing the penalty was a good thing to test. The players have shown a good attitude."
There was an early indication of Chelsea's frustration at their recent predicament when Loic Remy and Willian, two of the players drafted in by Mourinho, combined to earn a fifth minute penalty.
Remy's defence-splitting pass put Willian through on goal and the Brazilian winger was sent crashing to the turf by Maccabi goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
However, Mourinho still felt hard done by when German referee Felix Zwayer decided not to send off Rajkovic and he screamed in anger on the touchline when he saw the yellow card.
There was even worse to come as Belgium midfielder Hazard, showing a lack of composure that encapsulated his current struggles, blazed the penalty high over the crossbar.
- Fortunate escape -
It was a comically bad effort and could have shattered Chelsea's already fragile morale.
Yet, crucially, Rajkovic's fortunate escape turned into a bonus for Mourinho as Chelsea took the lead in the 15th minute when the keeper misjudged Willian's inswinging free-kick and allowed it to curl past him untouched into the far corner.
A first goal of the season was as good as it got for Willian, who limped off in the 23rd minute to be replaced by Costa.
After such an uninspiring start from Maccabi, Chelsea were lulled into a false sense of security at the back and the Israelis should have equalised when Eran Zahavi was left unmarked from Nikola Mitrovic's free-kick, but the forward's tame header looped harmlessly over.
But the hosts doubled their lead four minutes into stoppage-time when former Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim was ruled to have fouled Costa, even though he got a toe on the ball before tripping the Spain striker.
Brazil playmaker Oscar calmly sent Rajkovic the wrong way from the spot.
Mourinho had bristled when grilled on a perceived lack of success in his third year at his previous clubs, but his approval rating remains high at the Bridge and his name was loudly sung by Chelsea's fans.
With their confidence returning, Chelsea's most stylish flourish came in the 58th minute as Costa caressed a fine volley into the top corner from Fabregas's cross.
Fabregas has been pilloried for his ineffective displays of late, so he will have welcomed that assist and the close-range finish that brought Chelsea their fourth goal in the 78th minute.

3 Major Superman Characters Who May Appear In Man Of Steel 2

By Adam Holmes
There’s been a lot of talk lately about what Warner Bros’ plans are for Superman. Although the Kryptonian will play key roles in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and, presumably, the following two Justice League films, there hasn’t been any word on whether he’ll get to star in another solo adventure again, a.k.a. Man of Steel 2. There have been conflicting reports about whether the movie is actually happening or whether it’s been indefinitely delayed, but now we may have details on what this story might have to offer from a supposed pitch that Zack Snyder and Daid Goyer gave to Warner Bros for the Man of Steel follow-up.

While the status of the sequel still seems to be up in the air, Heroic Hollywood is claiming to have the scoop on three characters who are said to be appearing in Man of Steel 2, and even claims to know what their roles will be. Keep in mind that these plot details are unconfirmed, so treat them as rumors for now.

Brainiac
Brainiac
The alien supercomputer is one of Superman’s greatest foes, but oddly enough, he wouldn’t be targeting the Kryptonian directly in Man of Steel 2 – according to this report. Man of Steel fans will remember the codex containing the genetic information of every Kryptonian that Jor-El sent to Earth with his son, which Zod tried to obtain years later. This report says that Brainiac will be searching for that same codex in Man of Steel 2, but at that point, it’s not in Kal-El’s hands anymore. It’s found its way to another survivor from Krypton…

Kim Kardashian Reveals Her Father, Rob Kardashian Sr., Heard Rumors About Caitlyn Jenner Before Her Transition

Kim Kardashian Reveals Her Father, Rob Kardashian Sr., Heard Rumors About Caitlyn Jenner Before Her Transition
Kim Kardashian took to her new website to share what it was like being one of the first in her family to know about Caitlyn Jenner's identity as a transgender woman.
In a first-person essay, the 34-year-old reality star recalls when she found the former Olympian, who identified as Bruce Jenner at the time, wearing women's clothing.
"My mom was out of town with my little sisters, visiting my grandmother in San Diego, and I was living with her and Bruce at the time in Calabasas," Kim recalls. "I came home from a friend's house and walked into the garage and Bruce was there, dressed up as a woman. Heels, wig, makeup and all! I don't remember specifically what he had on because I put my head down and ran into my bedroom."
Kim also revealed that her late father, Rob Kardashian Sr., had talked about Caitlyn's desire to dress like a woman. "Had I not overheard my dad and his friends discussing rumors that Bruce would dress up as a woman years before (when I was about 11 years old), I never would have believed what I was seeing," she writes. "I thought my dad was jealous of my mom's new husband, that he was joking with his friends on the phone, but suddenly I knew it was all true."
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star goes on to admit that she got a little spooked after catching Caitlyn in the garage. She says that "within 30 seconds" she had packed a bag and drove to older her sister Kourtney Kardashian's house to spend the weekend.
Kourtney thought her sibling had caught Caitlyn cheating, of which Kim says she responded, "No, I wish."
The girls then started Googling episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show to try to find an explanation as to what Kim had witnessed. "For over a decade, we assumed he was a cross-dresser, not transgender," Kim writes.
Thirteen years later, in April of this year, Jenner came out as a transgender woman and has since documented her journey on the reality show, I Am Cait.
She also recently surprised her youngest daughter Kylie Jenner during one of her online makeup tutorials. Check it out:

PHOTOS: Cutest baby announcements
“They are so excited!” the insider tells Us of Johnson and Hashian, who have been together for nine years.
Johnson will officially have his hands full when his new baby arrives. The wrestling pro recently became dad to two adorable French bulldog puppies, Brutus and Hobbs, whom he had to rescue over Labor Day weekend. "[I] bring them home and immediately take them outside so they can start learning how to ‘handle their business and potty like big boys,'" The Rock explained on Instagram of a photo of him holding the dogs in his pool, soaking wet. "I set them both down and they both take off in a full sprint and fall right into the deep end of our pool."
Brutus and Hobbs were thankfully saved by the Furious 7 star and “ran off to play” after their dad dove into the pool fully clothed.
The Rock recently gushed about Hashian during an interview with Esquire.
“We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn't mentioned and my daughter [Simone] isn't mentioned. I always like making sure we find the balance and my home life is in there and Lauren Hashian is in there and my daughter is in there. You gotta get the better half in there," he told the mag. "With all the cool s--t and success that I've been lucky enough to get? That doesn't happen unless the home life is solid."

T.I. Explains Parting Ways With Iggy Azalea

T.I. Explains Parting Ways With Iggy Azalea .
It's been a weird year for Iggy Azalea. Ever since Q-Tip delivered a much-needed hip-hop history lesson to the Australian rapper on Twitter in December, Azalea has been flitting back and forth between absenteeism and cringey single releases. Back in December though, Azalea still had T.I. on her side, and it seems like her most stalwart advocate is no longer propping her up.
Earlier today T.I. stopped by the "Ebro in the Morning" show and explained when and why he parted ways with his former mentee. "In her defense, she had a lot thrown at her at one time," Tip said. "Any human being anywhere gon' have a hard time adjusting...Some stuff they brought upon themselves. In some cases it kind of was just the easiest place to put some pent-up aggression."
When asked about when exactly he stopped working with Iggy, T.I. noted Iggy's infamous response to Q-Tip as the turning point. "After the Q-Tip thing," he said. "After I kind of had smoothed it over, like okay, 'What is really meant to be said here is...' After it was cool, everything was cool, and then they kind of came back and undid what I had just [accomplished]. I'ma be all the way real: I'm a loyal partner. If I rock with you I'm gon' rock with you...I really do feel that they just needed a little more time to adjust, which I feel they can do. They have the talent, they have the charisma."
Meanwhile, Tip is back on his own grind, and clearing up the Iggy Azalea air seems like a smart move ahead of his own upcoming tenth album. Check out Tip's latest EP right here and watch the full interview above.

Mourinho hits back at Gerrard over Terry rift claim

London (AFP) - Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at Steven Gerrard as the Chelsea manager slammed claims of a rift with his axed captain John Terry.

Mourinho left Terry on the bench for Chelsea's 4-0 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in their Champions League opener at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
His decision to drop Terry came just weeks after he hauled off the veteran defender at half-time when Chelsea were beaten at Manchester City.
LA Galaxy midfielder Gerrard, working as a television pundit for the Chelsea match, claimed Mourinho's treatment of Terry must be due to a fracturing of their relationship.
"There's certainly a bit of friction behind the scenes because for me, you play John Terry week in, week out, he's your captain," Gerrard told BT Sport.
But Mourinho was quick to rubbish that suggestion when quizzed about the former Liverpool star's comments.
"Steven is wrong," Mourinho said. "I like him very much and respect him. I think he feels the same way but he is wrong because we have no problems."
While Mourinho was determined to stamp out talk of a Terry row, he stopped short of guaranteeing the centre-back, and the five other players dropped by the Chelsea manager, would return to the team for Arsenal's visit on Saturday.
"I don't know. Tomorrow I will start thinking about it. Everything was focused on this game. Tomorrow I will watch Arsenal," he said.
"I prefer to have problems because players have good performances."
- Feisty form -
Mourinho was in feisty form following Chelsea's much-needed first home win of the season as he slammed his critics in the media for a short-sighted view of the team's recent problems.
After winning the Premier League and League Cup last season, the Blues had made their worst start to a season since 1988 with one win from their first five Premier League matches.
But Mourinho said the questioning of his reign was ridiculous.
"It is human nature. You like people up and you like people down. (Wayne) Rooney was a disaster and then he broke the record and suddenly he is the greatest player in the history of English football," Mourinho said.
"You think in a different way. It is a different industry and it is an era when the pundits get big money to have their opinions.
"I'm a fantastic manager when I win matches and a fantastic manager when I lose matches.
"I'm not there waiting for my name to be sung by the fans. But I prefer it to them singing 'Mourinho out'. It shows they don't have short memories and they don't read the papers.
"It shows they know this club won four Premier Leagues; three with me and one with my team (after Mourinho left). So let's support this guy and we have a chance to win a fifth."
Despite Mourinho's typically confrontational stance, there was also a hint of relief that Chelsea had steadied the ship.
"When everything goes against you recently, and after five minutes of a game you have to win you miss a penalty, it is a great test of the character, so it was good that we showed we could cope. I'm happy with the performance," Mourinho said.
"I know what you are thinking. We didn't beat Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, but we beat a team that deserved to be here.
"I can imagine after a defeat how difficult it would be for everyone, especially two days before a game against Arsenal. It is very important."
Meanwhile, Tel Aviv manager Slavisa Jokanovic admitted his players had been overwhelmed by their first appearance in the Champions League group stages for 11 years.
"It is a new competition for us. In the first game we played away against one of the biggest teams in the world. They dominated us and deserved to win the game," Jokanovic said.
"We were too impressed with everything around us. We have to learn from this game."

Former teammate says Steven Gerrard 'has never liked black people'

Steven Gerrard has released a biography before, and someone's given him quite a bit of money to do another one now that he's left Liverpool. He apparently had a bit more to say this time around, and his former co-workers aren't too happy.
Rafa Benitez was fairly calm and professional about Gerrard saying he didn't get on with the Spaniard. "I've read the quotes and Gerrard is mistaken," said Benitez. "Due to the respect I have for ‘Stevie' and for the value and appreciation I have for him, and for Liverpool and the supporters, I'm not going to say anything."
But El-Hadji Diouf took a different tone, emphasis mine. "We all saw how he made life difficult for Mario Balotelli at Liverpool," said Diouf. "I warned him. Liverpool isn't a team that accepts black people unless they are English. It's common knowledge. Gerrard has never liked black people.
